If you are arriving from the north (e.g., from Burlington): Take Route 7 going south into Middlebury. At the first stop light in Middlebury, continue south. After a few blocks, you will see the village green on your right. Continue straight as you enter into a traffic circle; do not follow the signs when Route 7 bears to the left. You will enter into South Pleasant Street. The Inn on the Green is the large blue house with black shutters on the left, just past the large white Painter House on the left, and across from the red brick Town Hall Theater. The entrance to parking is just past the inn, just before the stone Baptist church.

If you are arriving from the east (e.g., from Boston, Hanover, NH, or eastern Vermont): During non-winter months (see note following this section), most GPS routes will take you across either Route 107 or Bethel Mountain Road to Route 100, then north on Route 100 and west on Route 125 (the Middlebury Gap Road). Route 125 ends at Route 7. Take Route 7 north into Middlebury. When you reach the Cross Street traffic light (just after Kinney Drug), turn left into Cross Street and then right into South Pleasant Street. Continue on South Pleasant Street until you see the Baptist Church on the right and beyond it, the large blue house with black shutters. The entrance to parking is in front of the inn, just after the Baptist church.

Note: In winter months, the recommended route is pretty remote and a little scary if you’re not used to driving mountain roads. We recommend instead driving across Rte. 4 from Woodstock, VT, passing Killington, and down to Rutland; and then driving north on Rte. 7 all the way into Middlebury. Rte. 4 is the main east/west route in this part of the state and it’s always well maintained, even in snowy and icy conditions. It’s also far less remote in the event that something does go wrong!

If you are arriving from the south via Route 30 (e.g., from Albany): Take Route 30 north into Middlebury. You will pass Middlebury College’s Field House and Center for the Arts, and then you will enter a small traffic circle (be sure to yield to vehicles already in the rotary!). Exit the traffic circle at the first right, which is Cross Street. Drive across the bridge over Otter Creek, and then take the first left, which is South Pleasant Street. Continue on South Pleasant Street until you see the Baptist Church on the right and beyond it, the large blue house with black shutters. The entrance to parking is in front of the inn, just after the Baptist church.
