The Inn's accommodations and services

The Inn offers eleven quiet, beautiful rooms and suites in its two buildings: the renovated 1803 main house and the reconstructed carriage house. Each guest room is furnished with a queen bed, two comfortable chairs, satellite HD television, telephone, alarm clock, hair dryer, and ironing facilities. Some rooms and both suites include additional beds to accomodate families or larger parties. Free high-speed Wi-Fi internet access is available in each guest room, and a computer and printer are available for guest use. All rooms have individual temperature control. The Inn is a non-smoking environment.

Your stay includes a complimentary continental “breakfast-in-bed” each morning. We are pleased to offer an assortment of juices, fruits, fresh locally-baked goods, Vermont cheese and yogurt, and hot beverages. Just tell us what you'd like for breakfast and what time you'd like to eat. Our staff will deliver your breakfast right to your room for your convenience and privacy.

It's also our pleasure to offer you afternoon tea or coffee, and we provide nightly turn-down service. You'll find luxurious, plush bathrobes in each guest room, and be sure to try the outstanding Aveda hair and skin care products provided as guest amenities!

The Inn's history

The Inn on the Green occupies a comfortable, solid Federal style house originally built in 1803 that was faithfully renovated in 1995-1997 to create the beautiful inn that now sits proudly on a small hill overlooking the Middlebury village green and downtown. More about the history of the house.

The Inn on the Green is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a Vermont Preservation Trust Award winner and a designated Middlebury Historic Landmark building. The inn is one of six hotels in Vermont to be recognized for achieving designation as a "Green Hotel in the Green Mountain State in 2004 and 2005."

About the Innkeepers

Current innkeepers Bruce and Brenda Grove, native New Englanders, bring many years of experience as world travelers and enthusiastic inn customers to the Inn on the Green.
